The Egyptian Drug Authority continues to develop its Business Continuity Management system as one of the fundamental pillars for enhancing institutional resilience and ensuring the continuity of regulatory functions and critical operations. This supports the Egyptian Drug Authority’s preparedness to efficiently and effectively address various emergencies and challenges, while ensuring the sustainability of the services provided.
The Egyptian Drug Authority adopts an integrated institutional methodology in preparing and implementing its business continuity plans. This begins with identifying critical operations and assessing the risks that may affect their continuity, followed by developing alternative operational plans and procedures that ensure the continued performance of essential functions under various circumstances, and concludes with the periodic review and updating of these plans to strengthen adaptability and enhance preparedness and rapid response capabilities.
The Egyptian Drug Authority’s Business Continuity Management system is based on international best practices and standards, foremost among them the United Nations Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015–2030), particularly the principle of "Build Back Better," which focuses on restoring critical functions and services rapidly and sustainably following crises and emergencies, thereby contributing to enhanced institutional performance and long-term sustainability.
Business continuity plans play a pivotal role in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by ensuring the continuity of critical regulatory operations and enhancing the Egyptian Drug Authority’s preparedness to respond to changing circumstances. This reinforces public confidence in the Egyptian Drug Authority’s ability to protect public health and carry out its regulatory oversight responsibilities efficiently and effectively under all circumstances.
