The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Participates in the Second Egyptian-Sudanese Forum, Strengthening Cooperation in Pharmaceutical Security and Industrial Integration
The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) took part in the preparatory workshops of the Second Egyptian-Sudanese Businessmen Forum, which included a special session on food and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The forum brought together prominent business leaders and decision-makers from both nations to discuss opportunities for deeper collaboration.
Representing the EDA, Dr. Osama Hatem, Associate for Policy and International Cooperation and Supervisor of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Policies and Market Access, emphasized the strong and historic ties between Egypt and Sudan. He highlighted pharmaceutical cooperation as a cornerstone for supporting health systems and enhancing pharmaceutical security.
Dr. Hatem also presented the EDA’s vision for expanding Egyptian pharmaceutical exports, strengthening their presence in the Sudanese market, and advancing cooperation through memorandums of understanding or mutual recognition agreements. He further discussed ways Sudan could benefit from Egypt’s expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing and capacity building.
The forum concluded with remarks by H.E. Ambassador Emad El-Din Adawy, Sudan’s Ambassador to Cairo, who reaffirmed the shared determination to promote economic integration, open new horizons for investment, and support sustainable development.
Distinguished participants included Dr. Mohy Hafez, Head of the Export Council for Medical Industries (Egypt), and Dr. Walid Mohamed, Head of the Chamber of Medicine Importers (Sudan).
As a leading regional platform, the forum aims to advance joint investments and strengthen industrial and commercial integration across key sectors—industry, health, food security, and energy. Building on the success of its first edition in Cairo (Nov 2024), it reflects the shared vision of both countries for sustainable growth and cooperation.
Through this participation, the Egyptian Drug Authority reaffirms its continuous commitment to enhancing pharmaceutical collaboration with Sudan—consolidating its role as a trusted regional and international reference in shaping pharmaceutical policies and advancing health security.
